Motivation: The Heart Of Self Improvment

Pain is sometimes the reason why people change. Receiving poor grades makes us realize that we need to study. Debts remind us of our responsibility to look for a source of income. Being humiliated gives us the ‘push’ to speak up and fight for ourselves to save face from the next embarrassment. It may be a bitter experience, a friend’s tragic story, a great movie, or an inspiring book that will help us get up and get the proper amount of motivation we need in order to improve ourselves.

With the countless negativity the world brings about, how do we keep motivated?

Try out the tips I have prepared from A to Z.

A - Achieve your dreams. Avoid negative people, things and places. Eleanor Roosevelt once said, “the future belongs to those who believe in the beauty of their dreams.”

B - Believe in your self, and in what you are capable of doing.

C – Consider things from every angle and aspect. Motivation comes from determination. To be able to understand life, you should feel the sun from both sides.

D – Don’t give up and don’t give in. Thomas Edison failed once, twice, more than three time before he invented and perfected the incandescent light bulb. Make motivation your steering wheel in everything you do.

E – Enjoy life. Work as if you don’t need the money. Dance as if nobody’s watching. Love as if you never cried. Learn as if you’ll live forever. Motivation takes place when people are happy.

F – Family and Friends are life’s greatest treasures. Don’t loose sight of them. See my short story below under "S".

G – Give more than what is expected or enough. When does motivation and self improvement take place at work, home, and school? Its when you exert an extra effort in doing things and give 110% in everything you do.

H – Hang on to your dreams and don't ever let go, no matter what! They may dangle in there for a moment, but these little stars will be your driving force.

I – Ignore those who try to destroy you. Don’t allow other people to get the best of you. Stay away from "toxic" people – you know - the kind of friends who hate to hear about your successes.

J – Just be yourself. One of the keys to success is to be yourself. And the key to failure is to try to please everyone.

K – Keep trying no matter how hard life may seem. Don't EVER give up! When a person is motivated, eventually he sees a harsh life finally clearing out, paving the way to self improvement.

L – Learn to love your self. Now ... wasn't that easy?

M – Make things happen. Motivation is when your dreams are put into work clothes.

N – Never lie, cheat or steal. Always play a fair game. You'll feel better about yourself and your efforts and others will see you as a better person for it. Whether you win or lose doesn't matter, it's how you play the game. If you lose, pick yourself up and try again! If you win, don't gloat or rub it in people's faces, they won't appreciate it!

O – Open your eyes. People should learn the horse attitude and horse sense. They see things in 2 ways – how they want things to be, and how they should be.

P – Practice makes perfect. Practice is about motivation. It lets us learn repertoire and ways on how can we recover from our mistakes. Always learn from your mistakes.

Q – Quitters never win, and winners never quit. So, choose your fate – are you going to be a quitter or a winner?

R – Ready yourself. Motivation is also about preparation. We must hear the little voice within us telling us to get started before others get on their feet and try to push us into something we are not prepared for. Remember, it wasn’t raining when Noah build the ark!

S – Stop procrastinating. Take care of the things that require your attention. Don't put them off because you never knows what's around the next bend. And by the time you "get around to it", it could just be too late. This especially rings true where people are concerned.

Here's a quick true story for you:

I had a friend that I kept "meaning to go see". For months I kept saying "I should go visit Lucky - yes that was his nickname and we all knew him by that name. After a while, I noticed he wasn't contacting me, wouldn't answer my emails, wouldn't return my phone calls, etc. I figured he was mad at me for not stopping by to say hello. Finally I decided to call him at work one day to tell him I was going to stop by after work that evening no matter what. The gentleman who answered the phone told me that Lucky had passed away from a heart attack about a month before my phone call. DEVASTATION!! My heart sank into my stomach and I began crying like a baby! This was a person who was my friend and we all loved him very much! That was over 5 years ago and to this day, and forever more, I will NEVER forgive myself for procrastinating and not stopping by to see him. Now I will never have the chance in this lifetime to ever do see or talk with him again. DON'T PROCRASTINATE!!! Don't put off until tomorrow what you can do today ... you never know what tomorrow will bring! I can't tell you how hard it was just to write that story just now .. it still brings tears to my eyes and always will every time I think about what I had done!

T – Take control of your life. Discipline and self control synchs synonymously with motivation. Both are key factors in self improvement.

U – Understand others. You know very well how to talk, you should also learn how to listen. Yearn to understand first, and to be understood the second. You have 2 ears and 1 mouth, use the proportionately!

V – Visualize it. Motivation without vision is like a boat on a dry land.

W – Want it more than anything. Dreaming means believing, and to believe is something is the root of motivation and self improvement. Discover your "Why". once you know your "Why", if it is strong enough, nothing will be able to defeat you!

X – X-Factor is what will make you different from the others. When you are motivated, you tend to put “extras” into your life. Things like extra time for family, extra help at work, extra care for friends, and so on.

Y – You are unique. No one in this world looks, acts, or talks like you. Value your life and existence because you only get 1 chance. Jim Rohn says: "You don't want to get to the end of your life and find out that you only lived 1/10 of it!"

Z
– Zero in on your dreams and go for it!!!

As always ... Make it a GREAT day!
